Hey theme creators.
This is related to a “new” theme builder software that showed up yesterday on the Internet. For us that downloaded, of course, the first thing we all did is started playing around by creating themes for Bold. However, to our surprise we have learned very quickly that once you change the font (anything but the default) and try to export the theme, program crashes.
What a surprise that was.
I bet all of you have slam your head (I know I did), since yesterday, against the wall trying to figure out how to change the font without crashing the program.
Well…..here’s the solution how I setup mine so it allows me to change the font and export it without a problem.
Although, I cannot verify whether or not this will show nicely on a BlackBerry Bold as I don’t have one. I have posted a theme on PimpMyBerry and Themes4BB with changes so I will see what responses are.
Anyhow, below is the short tutorial….so read it.
0) Make sure you back up all the files that you about to edit.
1) Locate the file under Program Files - Plazmic CDK 4.6 - resources - devices - blackberry
2) Right click the file named “BB9000” and choose edit.
3) Look for this entry “font.available.families =” and you will see all default font listed.
4) Simply add font that you want to use (ie. Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, etc) and save the file.
5) Now your theme builder will accept any font that you added and it will let you export the files without errors.

Is there a similar workaround for Curve devices? I’ve looked in the folder that you mentioned and it does not have a file for 83xx bb’s. Thanks!

What you want to look for is 87xx file. That one seem to be for 83xx.

I right-clicked on the file but there’s no “edit” choice on the list… how do you edit?

If there is not “Edit” options, choose “Open with” and select Notepad.
That should let you edit the file. Once done, simply save on top of the original.
BTW don’t forget to backup the original file.
